DMCH Ludhiana gives tips for celebrating safe Holi
Holi is festival of colours which is celebrated every year with utmost joy and enthusiasm. On the occasion of the eve of holi, our expert team of skin specialist shared some tips for celebrating this day and these safety rules should not ignore.

Dr Sunil Gupta, Professor & Head Department of Dermatology, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, elaborated that Wear full sleeved clothes & trousers while playing holi, apply coconut oil or any oil on your entire body and on your hair before applying colours, Drink lot of water to keep your skin hydrated, remove the colour with dry hands rather than using water.
People with history of eczema/ allergies should take special precautions and try to use organic colours. In case of development of rash or aggravation of pre existing disease they should immediate consult dermatologist.
Dr Sukhjot Kaur Associate Professor and Dr Jaspriya Sandhu Assistant Professor from Department of Dermatology highlighted some tips for the parents to keep their children safe during holi celebration
• Use organic colour
• Get your child to wear goggles to prevent eye damage or infection while playing Holi.
• Apply generous amounts of petroleum jelly or moisturizers on your child's skin
• Keep the contact number of your pediatrician and the nearest hospital handy. You never know when you may need them.
• In case colour enters the eyes / mouth, wash with clean water immediately.
• After playing holi, take proper both and apply generous amount of moisturizer to avoid dryness.
• People should avoid using mud, grease, enamel paint which can result pigmentation or rashes on your skin, don’t use such things to maintain spirit of the festival.
