DMC&H observes World Thalassemia Day
The Department of Paediatrics along with Dept. of Immunohematology, and Transfusion Medicine at DMC&H, in collaboration with the Punjab Thalassemic Welfare Society and AMFA India, marked World Thalassemia Day, which is observed on May 8th each year.
Ludhiana, May 10, 2023: The Department of Paediatrics along with Dept. of Immunohematology, and Transfusion Medicine at DMC&H, in collaboration with the Punjab Thalassemic Welfare Society and AMFA India, marked World Thalassemia Day, which is observed on May 8th each year.
On this occasion, a blood donation camp for medicos and a fashion show for Thalassemia warriors were organized. Several NGOs that work for the welfare of Thalassemia patients were also honoured.
Dr Praveen C Sobti, Director of Guru Teg Bhadur Hospital, was present as the Guest of Honour.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, praised the department and the Punjab Thalassemics Welfare Society on the occasion. He advised the youngsters to get a Thalassemia screening test so that this condition may be avoided in future generations.
According to Dr. Sandeep Puri, Principal of DMC&H, donating blood saves innumerable lives and should be done by anyone who is able.
According to Dr Puneet A Pooni, Head of Paediatrics, DMC&H is devoted to the care of children with thalassemia and has professionals who ensure the children's comfort during their stay.
Dr. Shruti Kakkar proposed the vote of gratitude.
NGOs presents on the occasion were Zindagi Live Foundation, The Rock Foundation, The Red Foundation NGO Welfare Society (Regd.). Sanjha Foundation & Welfare Society, PBG Welfare Society and AvonCycles Ltd.
Various DMC&H departments that contribute to the treatment of Thalassemia patients were also honored at the event.
