DMCH observing month long ‘National Nutrition Month’
Ludhiana, September 16, 2021: Department of Dietetics in DMCH is observing a month long ‘National Nutrition Month’ to raise public awareness about nutrition and healthy eating habits. The month is observed to make people understand the importance of nutritional and adaptive eating habits so that they can maintain a healthy lifestyle.
According to Dietician Shaveta Batta, the activities conducted till now during this month include quiz competition by interns in the Department of Dietetics. The competition consisted of various questions related to nutrition and dietetics and interns participated in large number to enhance their knowledge about the relevant subject.
Today in a second week of this month, a Yoga Activity was conducted which apprised the participants about the benefits of Yoga on overall health. Indian Dietetics Association has earmarked different weeks of this month to various different activities including Plantation activity (week1), Yoga & Aayush (week 2) Distribution of regional nutrition kits (week 3), Identification of Severe Acute Malnutrition(SAM) children & distribution of nutritious foods
Dt. Shaveta Batta stressed that people should include a healthy diet in their daily routine like whole grains,fruits, vegetables,fat milk etc. full of nutrition which not only helps in growth but also makes the immune system strong.
