Ludhiana, January 28, 2013: Department of Psychiatry organised a `De-addiction and Awareness Camp’ on drug abuse and its causes, prevention and treatment in Village Gill on January 25.
Around 170 patients were examined by Dr Ranjive Mahajan and Dr Pankaj Kumar.
Expressing concern regarding the alarming rise of drug abuse among youth in Punjab, Dr Ranjive Mahajan stressed on the need of awareness in general masses regarding drug abuse, its causes and preventive measures.
He further emphasised that drug addiction is an illness and the people involved in drug addiction should be treated like other ill patients and brought to professional help.
The patients showed great interest and enthusiasm in the whole programme and asked many questions and cleared various queries.
