DMC&H organises oration session on public health model on preventing substance abuse
DMC&H organised an oration for the students in DMC&H College Campus today. This oration was delivered by Dr Kaustubh Sharma Inspector General Police, Ludhiana Range on "Public Health Model on Preventing Substance Abuse". This event was organised in continuum of the “Buddy Program '' run by Govt of Punjab.
Ludhiana, August 22, 2023: DMC&H organised an oration for the students in DMC&H College Campus today. This oration was delivered by Dr Kaustubh Sharma Inspector General Police, Ludhiana Range on "Public Health Model on Preventing Substance Abuse". This event was organised in continuum of the “Buddy Program '' run by Govt of Punjab.
Present at the event were Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal, DMC&H, Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, Dr Ranjive Mahajan, Head, Psychiatry, Dr Navkiran Mahajan, Professor, Psychiatry, Dr Kanchan Gupta, Nodal Officer of Buddy Program and other faculty members.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society lauded the efforts of the organizers in creating awareness about substance abuse.
Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal, sensitized the students about the harms that drugs can bring to the life of the abuser and their family. He also encouraged the students to speak up if they see their peers spiralling into the path of addiction.
Dr Kaustubh Sharma described the effects that different types of drugs have on the brain of an individual and how the government is trying to tackle the menace of drug abuse. He highlighted the role that individuals can play in exercising their judgment regarding drug use. Community participation can have far reaching results.
The event concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Sandeep Kaushal.
