The medical and nursing students of DMCH, Ludhiana on Thursday showing a unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and precision in various athletic events during “Annual Inter-Batch Athletic Meet (Smash-2013)” held in Malikpur Grounds.

Ludhiana, February 28, 2013: The medical and nursing students of DMCH today showed a unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and precision as participants and strove to prove their best in various athletic events during “Annual Inter-Batch Athletic Meet (Smash-2013)” held in Malikpur Grounds.

The meet began with an impressive march past took by the faculty and undergraduate students of MBBS batches 2008,2009, 2010,2011 and 2012 and the students of College of Nursing.

The chief guest on the occasion was Police Commissioner, Ishwar Singh, who declared the meet open by hoisting the flag and releasing pigeons in air. He lauded the efforts of organising members of DMC Sports Committee in organising the meet.

Those present during the inaugural ceremony were Vice-President Amrit Nagpal, Secretary Prem Kumar Gupta, Treasurer Satish Sanwalka, Principal Dr. Daljit Singh, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina and Medical Superintendent, Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary. 

Principal Dr Daljit Singh extended his warmest congratulations to the participants of various sports events.

Acknowledging the importance of organising sports meet, Chairperson of DMCH Sports Committee, Dr. Rajoo Singh Chhina emphasised that participating in sportsactivities play a major role in overall development of ones personality. He advised the students to play with a sportsman spirit and able to accept the defeat graciously.Loosing and winning is not important but the participation and contribution is very important, said Dr Chhina.

The welcome address was given by Dr Sanjeev Uppal, who also did an impressive comparing during the sports meet.

Dr P L Gautam (Coordinator) led an oath-taking ceremony in which Aravdeep Singh and Nipun Vansal (Organising Secretaries, Sports Committee) took an oath with all other students.

Dr PS Nain proposed a vote of thanks to the chief guest and faculty present on the occasion.

Tug of War between the faculty and students enthralled those present on the occasion.
