DMC&H Students Shine at NMC Essay Writing Competition

PG and UG students from the Department of Community Medicine at DMC&H have won laurels in an essay writing competition organized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Delhi. The theme of this competition was 'Experiences about the Family Adoption Program,' in which students shared their own  on-ground experiences of helping families overcome various challenges and improve their quality of life.

Ludhiana, October 15, 2024: PG and UG students from the Department of Community Medicine at DMC&H have won laurels in an essay writing competition organized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Delhi. The theme of this competition was 'Experiences about the Family Adoption Program,' in which students shared their own  on-ground experiences of helping families overcome various challenges and improve their quality of life.

Dr Daljit Kaur, a PG Resident, bagged 2nd position in India in the essay competition, recognized by Sh. JP Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

Additionally, the essays of five other students, including Ms. Amrita Legha (UG 2nd year), Shruti Sharma (UG 2nd year), Apeksha (UG 3rd year),  Dr Suhas Bakaya (PG Resident), and Dr Sarleen Kaur Arora (PG Resident) were published in the NMC Book for their outstanding contributions.

Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, lauded the students' achievements for their remarkable success. DMC&H is not nurturing the medical students  but also compassionate individuals who are committed to community service. The Family Adoption Program showcases how medical education can positively impact society at large.

Principal Dr. G.S. Wander, stated that, this recognition highlights the importance of bridging healthcare with humanity. Our students have not only provided medical aid but also created lasting relationships with these families, fostering a healthier and more empowered community.
 
Dr. Anurag Chaudhary, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, highlighted the institution's outreach efforts, mentioning that at Rural Health Centre, Pohir we have adopted 15 villages where our students and health care workers work closely with families, addressing their healthcare needs and guiding them toward healthier lifestyles.
