DMC&H successfully conducts a CME on Glaucoma
A Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Glaucoma Simplified: Preserving Sight Under Pressure” was successfully organized at Dumra Auditorium, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 16, 2025: A Continuing Medical Education (CME) on “Glaucoma Simplified: Preserving Sight Under Pressure” was successfully organized at Dumra Auditorium, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.
The event was hosted by DMC&H in association with Ludhiana Ophthalmological Society under the auspices of the Punjab Ophthalmological Society. The event saw participation of over 100 ophthalmologists of the region. CME was organized under the leadership of Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, Professor & Head, Department of Ophthalmology, DMC&H. The Joint Organizing Secretary, Dr. Pallavi Singh, Vitreo Retina and Uvea Specialist, played a key role in coordinating the event.
The keynote address, titled “How Not to Miss Glaucoma?”, was delivered by distinguished chief guest Dr. S.S. Pandav, Professor & Head, Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh, who emphasized how early detection and timely intervention in glaucoma can prevent irreversible vision loss.
The Program was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H, Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent, and Dr Bishav Mohan, Chief Cardiologist cum coordinator. Their presence underscored the institutional commitment towards advancing ophthalmic education and care.
In his address, Bipin Gupta commended the Department of Ophthalmology for organizing this significant educational initiative. He stated, “CME events like this equip healthcare professionals with essential knowledge about the latest developments. Creating awareness about glaucoma is crucial for early identification and appropriate management."
Dr. G.S. Wander, highlighted the public health implications, noting, "Glaucoma continues to be a leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide. Strengthening diagnostic capabilities and treatment protocols can substantially reduce its burden on affected individuals and healthcare systems."
The comprehensive program featured three specialized session focusing on Diagnostics, Medical Management, and Surgical Management of glaucoma. These sessions provided participants with valuable insights into current approaches, technological innovations, and best practices in glaucoma care. Regional experts presented evidence-based strategies for improving patient outcomes through precise diagnosis and effective treatment modalities.
The CME concluded successfully with participants acquiring substantive knowledge about glaucoma management.
