DMCH’s patient receives a special birthday gift from the hospital upon discharge

A 58-year-old male was brought to the neurosurgery OPD at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital on a stretcher, suffering from left-sided weakness difficulty walking and was unable to walk for the past 10 days. A CT scan revealed a massive blood clot in right side of his brain. The patient, with a history of diabetes and hypertension, underwent surgery on his brain, during which the large blood clot was successfully removed.

Ludhiana, September 26, 2024: A 58-year-old male was brought to the neurosurgery OPD at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital on a stretcher, suffering from left-sided weakness difficulty walking and was unable to walk for the past 10 days. A CT scan revealed a massive blood clot in right side of his brain. The patient, with a history of diabetes and hypertension, underwent surgery on his brain, during which the large blood clot was successfully removed.

After the operation, the patient was fully conscious and showed significant improvement by evening, with his left-sided paralysis nearly returning to normal. By the third day of surgery, i.e. on September 26, 2024—coinciding with his birthday—he was discharged in a conscious state, fully ambulatory without support and free from any paralysis.

Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Bipin Gupta expressed his delight after witnessing a heartwarming recovery at the hospital, as a patient who arrived on a stretcher was able to walk out on his own, coincidentally on the patient’s birthday, making the occasion even more special. Bipin Gupta noted that such recoveries are a testament to the excellent care provided by the hospital. He further stated that the neurosurgery department will soon be upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment to further benefit patients.

Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary, Professor & Head Department of Neurosurgery, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital emphasized the importance of early detection and action for even minor symptoms such as minor head injuries, headaches, memory loss, weakness on one side of the body, or seizures. Patients are encouraged to consult a neurosurgeon and undergo prompt evaluation to ensure the best possible outcomes.
