Do not remove vendors till vending zones are made and allotment done in transparent manner: CPI
Says these vendors serve the middle class people at their door steps
Ludhiana, December 1, 2022: Reacting to the news of Municipal Corporation’s (MC) action against the temporary encroachments, the Communist Party of India (CPI), Ludhiana has said that it is important to remove the encroachments on the government land but such action has mainly turned out to be against the poor people who make their living by selling goods at the Rehries. These poor people are forced to park Rehries at odd places because the government has failed to make vending zones for them.
It is pertinent to note that the Vending Zone Act was passed by the Parliament in 2014. As per the provision in the Act it was to be implemented within one year. But Ludhiana MC has not complied by it even after 8 years. In this situation we demand that vending zones should be immediately created and allotted in a transparent manner. Till then poor Rehriwalas should not be removed. It appears that there are some ulterior motives behind removal of the poor vendors. These vendors serve the middle class people at their door steps.
