Doaba College organizes Zoomia World Competitions

Jalandhar: P.G. Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of Doaba College.organized Zoomia World online competition . Dr. Simran Sidhu and Prof Priya Chopra alongwith faculty facilitated the 150 students participants with the help of Zoom platform to participate in Zoomia World virtual Competitions .For this event, a virtual ‘Zoomia world’ was created by department in which all the participants ‘zoomanians’ were taken on an exciting rounds of competitions. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that in this era of online teaching and learning through platforms like Zoom, the words “Zoomia World” and “Zoomanians” as coined by the department will soon be recognized globally.
Kalpana, a second year student of Bachelors in Journalism & Mass Communication, hosted the whole event, enacting as the pilot of this virtual space ship. An online RJying Competition was conducted through zoom, in which a word was given to participants to show their creativity. The competition was hosted by Tarun, news anchor, HNI TV, an ex-student of the department. RJying competition received excited participation from the students. . Other segments, “Main aur Meri Dadi” and “khat K zariye”, also one of the categories of competition under Me…Media…Message were presented by current students of department Gurmeet and Meetali . The selected works from the categories, “Main aur Meri Dadi” and “khat K zariye”, which would will be broadcasted in an audio form in future on Community Radio, “Radio Raabta 90.8 MHz” The students were also encouraged to participate in other competitions under Me…Media…Message including, Frozen Frame and slogan writing.
Gaurav Maini aka RJ Garry MY FM an alumnus answered the various questions of eager participants and shared tips related to Radio Industry and to become a successful RJ. A special workshop on ‘Acting & Voice modulation’ was conducted by Prof. Deepak Sharma.Entire faculty and students viz Rashi, Kanika and Aseem made their substantial contribution in conducting this event.
