Doctors of Hero DMC Heart Institute donates plasma cell for covid patients

Ludhiana: Two resident doctors from HDHI (Hero DMC Heart Institute) became the life saver for the critical Covid patients.
Resident doctors name Dr Bhanu Parkash (Resident) and Dr Ashish Garg (Senior Resident, Cardiology) got infected with Covid-19 after the recovery they donated their plasma for the critical Covid patients.

Plasma therapy is a treatment where the plasma (the straw-coloured, liquid component of blood that acts as a transporting medium) from a recovered patient is injected in the body of an infected patient. It has been observed that the antibodies present in the recovered patient’s blood neutralise the virus present in the Covid patient’s body. Thus, the treatment is being suggested for patients who are moderately affected by the virus. Plasma can be donated once in 14 days.

According to Dr Bhanu Parkash and Dr Ashish plasma donation is similar to blood donation and it is half an hour process. A needle is placed into a vein in the arm. Plasma is collected through a process call plasmapheresis and is conducted in cycles.
Secretary, DMCH Managing Society Shri Prem Kumar Gupta appreciated the noble work of both of the doctors who has become the life saver for the Covid patients.

According to Dr Bishav Mohan, Medical Superintendent, HDHI Donating plasma will not reduce your own immunity and will not affect your future antibody levels and he said till now, many few people have come forward for plasma donation and urged the people to come forward for this noble cause to cure Covid patients.
