Ludhiana, August 12: Ludhiana MP and the National Spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari today lashed out at the Akali-BJP government in the state for ignoring and overlooking the interests of the trading community.

In a statement here today, he said, the government must avoid taking unilateral decisions without taking the trading community into confidence. “Don’t think they are thieves talk to them and listen to them”, he remarked.

Supporting the demands of the traders who are opposing the hike in the electricity tariff and other anti trade policies of the government, Tewari regretted that this government had turned blind eye to all the public interest. He said, this government had already turned financially desperate and despondent and it was now trying to rob the trading community by imposing tough conditions.

Ludhiana MP said, if the government really needed to something about finances and rationalising the tax, it should better have taken the traders into confidence. “Don’t take traders to be thieves they are partners in growth and development”, he asked the government while maintaining that even the traders will not be averse to anything that goes for the welfare of the state.

Tewari said, more rural roads were being developed under the PMGSY and approval had either been granted are being sought.
