Double-digit Covid case count for last two days in Ludhiana matter of concern: DC
Says we all need to remain cautious
Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday said that after a gap of two months, Ludhiana has been reporting double-digit Covid cases in the last two days which shows a slight surge in the situation.
Addressing the Ludhiana residents in his weekly Facebook live session on the official page of DPRO Ludhiana, the Deputy Commissioner said that we all need to remain cautious as the cases have been reported from the two schools which is a matter of concern.
He said that after the cases surfaced, the administration has been conducting a special sampling drive in 12 Mohallas of the Ludhiana from where the students belonging and action is being taken accordingly. Deputy Commissioner told us that we are assessing the situation and if needed, we would try to make containment areas for breaking the transmission chain accordingly.
He informed that the district administration is committed to tackling any kind of exigency in view of any surge in Covid cases and health infrastructure has been ramped in the Ludhiana and is now in a better position to deal with the third wave. He said that the administration is running the vaccination drive aggressively and has inoculated 16.12 lakh residents so far.
He said that the administration is fighting the battle against the novel coronavirus effectively and evaluating the situation round the clock.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all of us should work in tandem in these times to beat the coronavirus in the larger public interest.
He told that if the people firmly adhere to Covid appropriate behaviour includes mask-wearing, two-yard distancing and observing good hygiene and get the vaccine, then the third wave would not have any major impact on their lives.
He said that people should not show any kind of complacency against Covid-19 as carelessness can lead to the cases.
