Dr Amar Singh lays foundation stone of Halwara International Airport’s boundary wall
Upcoming Airport will drive investment, jobs and development towards Halwara and Raikot: Dr Amar Singh
Halwara (Ludhiana): A little over a week after getting started the work of carpeting the approach road for the new Halwara International Airport, Fatehgarh Sahib Member Parliament (MP) Dr Amar Singh on Tuesday, laid a foundation stone to construct the boundary wall of the airport.
Dr Amar Singh was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Administrator (ACA) Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) Bhupinder Singh, Airport Director SK Saran and Congress leader Kamil Singh Boparai.
Dr Amar Singh, while expressing gratitude to the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for personally intervening in this project and taking up with the central government to expedite the work of Halwara Airport. He also praised the Deputy Commissioner for working day and night for this project despite his busy schedule.
Dr Amar Singh said that the upcoming Airport will drive investment, jobs and development towards Halwara and Raikot.
He said that the approach road and boundary wall are the first phase of the new airport as the approach road and boundary wall were critical requirements for starting work on the new terminal building.
He said that the 2340 meters boundary wall of the was being built at a cost of Rs 3.01 crores and would be completed in six months.
DC Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the work was going on in full swing and the Government was fully prepared to start flights as soon as required infrastructure including approach road, boundary wall and interim terminal building were ready.
Congress Leader Kamil Boparai said that the establishment of Airport will attract new industries in the district.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagraon Neeru Katyal, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Raikot Dr Himanshu Gupta, XEN Public Works Department (PWD) Rakesh Garg and SDO PWD Inderpal Singh among other prominent persons were present.
