Appeals farmers to restrain from burning paddy straw
Ludhiana: Dr Bishav Mohan, a member of Sanjivani team formed by the Punjab Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during his weekly Facebook live session on Thursday, shared tips on how to take care of your heart ahead of changing weather amid COVID-19.
Dr Bishav Mohan informed that they consider three types of people as heart patients including who have a blood pressure problem, weak pumping or blockage in the heart. He said that when the weather changes from summer to winter there were maximum chances of increasing the risk of cardiac arrests, paralysis or other heart-related diseases.
He said that to prevent the heart-related issues especially in winters, the people having problem of blood pressure, weak pumping or blockage in hearts should monitor their blood pressure regularly and should not stop anticoagulants (blood thinner medicines) without the consultation of the doctor.
He also advised people to avoid painkillers if they suffer body-aches as painkillers absorb salt and result in an increase the Blood Pressure. He said that some painkillers even led to neutralise the effect of Blood pressure medicines.
He said that instead of taking painkillers if anyone has fever or suffering body aches should increase the consumption of water and if still, they require medicine could take Crocin.
He also encouraged recovered COVID-19 patients to start their routine life while adhering to safety protocols and asked them to do exercise and walk.
Dr Bishav Mohan appealed farmers to restrain from burning paddy straw as studies show that pollution directly affects the heart patients and moreover, it could lead to rising the COVID spread. He urged farmers to use other measures to manage the residue left after harvesting of paddy.
