Ludhiana, February 15, 2025: The Dr. D R Memorial British Parliamentary Debate, powered by Ludhiana Management Association and hosted and organized by PCTE Group of Institutes, came to a thrilling conclusion today after two days of fierce competition and intellectual brilliance. The debate, which began on February 14, saw enthusiastic participation from students across various prestigious colleges in India.
From the very first debate to the final clash of arguments, this event has been a battleground of ideas, where participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions on some of the most pressing geopolitical issues of our time. The debates have been nothing short of electrifying, with teams demonstrating their analytical prowess, quick thinking, and unwavering determination.
As we reach the culmination of this exhilarating journey, we must acknowledge that this competition has not only honed debating skills but has also fostered a deeper understanding of global affairs, diplomacy, and policy-making. Each one of them, whether a participant, adjudicator, or organizer, has played an integral role in making this event a resounding success,
With teams competing passionately, the event reached its climax today with the semi-finals and finals. Out of the numerous participating teams, four succeeded in making it to the semi-finals. These teams were from renowned institutions including St. Stephen's College (Delhi), NIT Jalandhar, IIM Amritsar, and Ramjas College (Delhi) sparking dynamic debates on global topics like the future of the European Union and its relationship with the US etc.
To do the honors, we are privileged to have with us esteemed dignitaries whose presence graced this occasion: Dr. KNS Kang, Director General of PCTE Group of Institutes, whose leadership continues to inspire academic excellence; Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Kang, President of the Ludhiana Management Association, whose contributions to the field of management have been invaluable; and Mr. Arjun Sethi, Owner of Skassa Agro, whose entrepreneurial spirit and support for such initiatives have been instrumental in making this event a success.
The final round of the debate saw a fierce competition between Ramjas College (Delhi) and NIT Jalandhar, both teams delivering outstanding performances. After an intense final face-off, the team from NIT Jalandhar emerged victorious, clinching the first prize of ₹1,00,000. The first runner-up, Ramjas College, walked away with a cash prize of ₹25,000. The second runner-up was awarded to IIM Amritsar ₹10,000, while teams that reached the quarter-finals received ₹3,000 each. All participants received certificates of participation, marking their contribution to the thought-provoking discussions and intellectual exchange.
The event was a huge success, providing an invaluable platform for students to showcase their debating skills, engage in meaningful discourse, and build lasting connections with peers from across the nation.
