Ludhiana, August 15, 2019: The Punjab Agricultural University Vice Chancellor, Dr B.S.Dhillon congratulated the faculty, staff and students on the occasion of the country’s 73rd Independence Day as he unfurled the tricolour and took the salute from the NCC cadets at the University campus today.

Reminding the gathering about the tremendous struggle undergone by freedom fighters to achieve Independence, Dr Dhillon called upon everyone to exercise self-control and compassion as the country as a whole passes through turbulent phase. He dwelled on the need to conserve natural resources with respect to air, water and soil. “The upcoming generations have a greater task at hand as far as environmental conservation is concerned and the elders in this regard need to generate awareness,” he opined.

Citing Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s verse, ‘Pawan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dhart Mahatt’, Dr Dhillon stressed that since each of us partakes of the ecosystem, the responsibility for sensitizing others rests on all of us too. He urged the students to inculcate the value of discipline and self-management for leading a fulfilling life.

The Director Students Welfare, Dr R.K. She drew attention to the glorious position occupied by PAU in terms of agricultural empowerment, not just in India but across the world too, and for further strengthening the great institution, she urged everyone to work together as a team.

Dr Dhaliwal motivated the students to dwell in constructive pursuits and uphold the teachings of the great Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji whose 550th Birth Anniversary is being marked this year.

Deans, Directors, Officers, Heads of the Departments and a large number of students were present on this occasion.
