Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill joined as the Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. He replaced Dr. Inderjeet Singh.

Ludhiana, September 11, 2024: Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill joined as the Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. He replaced Dr. Inderjeet Singh.

Dr. JPS Gill is a distinguished academician and eminent researcher with over 34 years of exceptional experience in veterinary sciences, research, and academic administration. His extensive career encompasses 16 years of administrative experience, which includes 9 years in leadership roles as Director of Research and Coordinator of Research, and many other additional administrative responsibilities. He has also served as Director of the School of Public Health & Zoonoses for 4 years and Head of Department for 2 years. Dr. Gill also served as an adjunct professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canada.

Dr. Gill's expertise and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the research initiatives.  He has successfully secured over Rs 150 crores in funding for Varsity from 140 national and international research projects. His leadership has led to collaborations with 48 national and 12 international universities and institutes, encompassing countries such as Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Germany, Thailand, Brazil etc. Dr. Gill has managed and obtained funding for 40 national and international research projects worth more than 50 crores.

Dr. Gill was a member of the High-Powered Committee of CM Punjab to Develop a Road Map to Boost the Dairy Sector in the State; a member of the Expert Committee on Diversification of Agriculture in Punjab; the Breeding Authority of Punjab; and a member of the and a member of the Peer Review Committee for Punjab State Farmer Policy on Role of Livestock Production in Agriculture Diversification in Punjab.  Dr. Gill is an expert member at national and international platforms like Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, World Health Organization. At National Level he was also an expert member of many committees, including Dept. of Biotechnology, Indian Council of Medical Research, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Dr. Gill has received many prestigious accolades, awards, and honours from bodies of national and international repute. He expressed that he will support the faculty and employees of the university in all manners to explore their full potential. He also desired constructive and valuable cooperation from line departments.

In the meeting Dr. Inderjeet Singh the outgoing Vice Chancellor congratulated him and extended his full cooperation for the future. He said that vet varsity’s faculty is the most vibrant and always at the forefront to perform for the betterment of the Livestock Sector.
