Ludhiana, August 8: Dr. Gurdev Singh Khush Foundation for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) awarded scholarships to 11 students of PAU.
The students awarded scholarships are namely Mandeep Singh, Jagjit Singh (B. Sc. Agri. Hons. 6-year programme), Rajwinder Kaur, Sudhir Singla (B. Sc. Agri. Hons. 4-year programme), Jaspreet Kaur, Kanwalpreet Kaur (B. Sc. Biotech Hons., Sahil Duggal, Sachin R.V. Singh, Kiranpreet (B. Tech. Agri-Engg.) and Shweta Chouhan, Reshma Thapar (B. Sc. Home Science).
Dr. Khush donated the entire money woth Rs. 3.5 crore that he fetched from the coveted international prizes he received from different organisations to PAU for advancement of agricultural sciences.
According to the PAU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon , Dr. Khush an alumnus of PAU has done his almamater proud through his achievements and humanitarian acts.
It may be mentioned here that Dr. Khush graduated from PAU and the University of California-Davis and has since been awarded nine honorary degrees, including an honorary doctorate from Cambridge University (U.K.). He has also been elected to the US National Academy of Sciences and Royal Society of London and he consults for over 15 national governments including India, China and Russia. Dr. Khush will always be a source of motivation for many, the PAU VC said. He delivered the award letters to the students, congratulated them and knew about their future plans.
