Dr K.M Cherian honoured by NOTTO for work done in Organ Transplant field in country
Chennai, November 29, 2021: Dr. K.M. Cherian, Chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline Hospital and DrK.M. Cherian Heart foundation was honoured by NOTTO for the work done in the field of cardiac care and organ transplantation in the country on 28th November 2021. Dr. K.M. Cherian was honoured by Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health during the function held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi organized by NOTTO (National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation) as part of “12th Indian Organ Donation Day” celebrations. The Minister also honoured the Donor’s families and the paramedical staffs involved in cadaver transplant programme.
The annual event by NOTTO aims to promote awareness and recognize the selfless contribution made by deceased donors to healthcare and mankind re-instil our faith in humanity.
Dr. K.M. Cherian has performed the India’s first Heart Transplant in the country after legalisation of brain death, First Heart and Lung Transplant, First Pediatric and Interstate Transplant and Asia’s first Re-transplant after 8 years of initial transplant. The recipient after 3 years took part in World Transplant Games in Malaga, Spain. Dr. K.M. Cherian has also performed 2 Transplants in one night which is the 3rd in the world.
