Chandigarh, May 15, 2015: Haryana Governor and Chancellor, Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki has appointed Dr O.P Kalra, Principal Professor of Medicine, Head, Division of Nephrology, University College of Medical Sciences (University of Delhi) G.T.B. Hospital, Delhi as Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak for a period of three years or till he attains the age of 68 years whichever is earlier with effect from the date he assumes the charge of his office.

+     Extremely devoted, sincere, hardworking, honest medical teacher and medical administrator with vision for developing state of the art centers of education in medical and allied health sciences

·         Principal of a leading medical college in the Capital City of Delhi for the last 8 years, which has factual rank No.1 in the country out of survey of nearly 400 medical colleges and is a constituent college of University of Delhi.

·      Administrative experience as Principal of the Medical College for more than 8 years. Also worked as Medical Superintendent of the associated 1700 bedded GTB Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Super-specialty Hospital. During this period, there has been massive increase in training capacity at MBBS level (by 50%) and at PG level (by nearly 200%). In addition, there has been marked increase in the research grants (8 fold) and scientific publications from the College.

Born and brought up in Panipat, Haryana where I received Pre-University Education for 12 years culminating in state level merit scholarship.

+      Experience of closely interacting with various ministries and autonomous bodies concerned with medical education, such as Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Pharmacy Council of India, Delhi State Medical Council, National Board of Examinations, University Grants Commission, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and University of Delhi.
