Dr. Sapna Nanda, honoured on Independence Day for her meritorious services
Chandigarh: Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, Government College of Yoga Education and Health under Chandigarh Administration, was felicitated by V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh on Independence Day celebrations for her meritorious services & initiatives.
Dr Nanda has many recognitions under her belt. To encourage students, staff and yoga enthusiasts to contribute to the field of Yoga literature, Dr Nanda launched an annual college magazine “Kalash” in 2020 and a half-yearly newsletter “Yogvritant” to inform all about the developments in Yoga. Also, on the 7th International Day of Yoga, she launched an online journal “The Yogic Insight.”
To sensitise students and faculty about the various aspects and importance of the environment, a “Yog Eco Club” was started in the college. Moreover, Chandigarh’s first-ever project on solid waste management was inaugurated in the college campus under Clean & Green Campaign.
She also has various research papers published in journals titled as “Management of Coronavirus through Yogic Practices: An Awareness Assessment Study”, “Psycho-Social Health as affected by Covid-19 pandemic: A Survey”, and more. Dr Nanda has also authored a book titled “Evaluation and Management of High-risk Pregnancies: Emerging Research and Opportunities”.
For the benefit of the people, more than 120 videos have been uploaded on YouTube and Facebook to spread awareness on Yoga and health.
The 7th International Day of Yoga was organised virtually in collaboration with Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) amidst all the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic and various initiatives were undertaken during the challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic with the sole purpose to contribute to the well being of the society.
