Drug smuggler nabbed with drug money and opium

Ferozepur: The police has nabbed an alleged drug smuggler and recovered 1.5 kg opium and drug money of Rs. 75, 000/- besides a Swift car from him. Notably, his father is contesting as an independent candidate from ward number 8 in Talwandi Bhai MC polls.
Bhagirath Singh Meena, SSP while divulging details said that the accused who is middle passed, works as battery mechanic in Talwandi Bhai. “During the preliminary investigation, the accused admitted that at least five times he had brought opium from Jharkhand and supplied the same in small pouches in nearby villages”, said SSP.
The SSP said that during the investigation it also came to fore that his father is contesting as an independent candidate for the upcoming Municipal Council polls from ward number eight in Talwandi Bhai for the first time.
The accused was produced in the court today and was sent for two days police remand. The SSP said that more revelations are expected during the remand.
A case under sections 18, 61, 85 NDPS Act was registered against the accused at city police station (FIR No. 25 dated 07.02.2021).
