Jalandhar, August 4, 2023: DRV DAV Centenary Public school ,Phillaur continuously strives to support its students' overall growth.The school's Literary Club organized an inter-section Debate Competition on Friday for the 9th-grade students. The theme of the competition was "Floods: Responsibility between Nature and Man." The event aimed to encourage critical thinking, public speaking skills, and awareness about the impact of floods on the environment and society. A total of 16 pairs (32 students) participated, eloquently presenting their arguments in three languages: Hindi, Punjabi, and English. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing different sections of 9th grade. Each pair of students presented their viewpoints and arguments, showcasing their knowledge and understanding of the topic.

The judging panel consisted of three esteemed 12th-grade students, namely Anita Jassi, Jaspreet Kaur, and Chahat. Their role was pivotal in evaluating the participants' performances, assessing their arguments, and awarding the deserving winners.

The competition showcased remarkable talent and passion among the participants. After careful evaluation, the judging panel announced the following results:
The 1st prize was awarded to Tumanshu Randhawa and Harleen Kaur from 9th B for their insightful and well-researched arguments.

Nishita Wadhawa and Lovejot Sandhu from 9th B secured the 2nd prize. Their impressive articulation and understanding of the topic earned them this well-deserved recognition.

The 3rd prize was shared by two pairs of participants. Ritika Sunder and Manroop Kaur from 9th A showcased exceptional debating skills, as did Prachi Aggarwal and Saneha from 9th C. Both pairs presented strong arguments, leading to a tie for the 3rd prize.

A special appreciation award was presented to Aarush from 9th D. His unique perspective and thoughtful approach to the topic were highly commendable.

Principal ,Dr Yogesh Gambhir stated that the debate competition on such current issue proved to be an engaging and thought-provoking event. It not only provided a platform for students to express their ideas but also raised awareness about the crucial issue of flood management and the shared responsibility between nature and humanity.
