ECI issues schedule for special summary revision in voter lists

Chandigarh, September 13, 2012:  The Election Commission of India today issued detailed time schedule for the special summary revision in voter lists in the state of Punjab.

A Spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, today said that the primary publication of voter lists would take place on October 1^st ,2012 and people would be able to file claims and objections from October 1^st to 31, 2012. Besides that on the 7, 14, and 21 October 2012, concerned BLOs and BLAs would also receive the claims and objections.      

The Spokesperson further said that the persons who would attain the age of 18 years or more till the date of 01-01-2013 and also fulfilled all the required qualifications for a voter, could submit his/her application in the form no 6 with the Election Registration Officer or the officers designated by them. He further said that a person would have to deposit the application in form no 8 for revision and in Form no 7 for objections. NRIs  have  been asked to deposit the form no 6- A in the case of registration of voters in the voter list.

The ECI has also urged the qualified citizens to submit the Form no 6 along with the passport size photographs with the concerned Election Registration Officer or Booth Level Officers, to make their Photo Identity cards.

The ECI has also appealed the masses and all political parties to cooperate the concerned officers, so that all the qualified citizens could be registered as voters. He said that for any quarry, people should contact concerned District Election Officers, Election Registration Officer, Assistant Election Registration Officer, Election Tehsildars or Booth Level Officers.
