Eco Club of PCM SD College for Women holds Tree Plantation Program

The Eco Club of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Tree Plantation Program in celebration of World Environment Day. This initiative was conducted under the Environment Education Programme, following the directions issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India, and the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, the State Nodal Agency.

Jalandhar, June 7, 2024: The Eco Club of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, organized a Tree Plantation Program in celebration of World Environment Day. This initiative was conducted under the Environment Education Programme, following the directions issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), Government of India, and the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, the State Nodal Agency. 

The primary aim of the activity was to maintain a clean and green campus and to raise awareness among students about the significance of ecology and the natural environment.

The tree plantation activity saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. Various saplings were planted across the college campus. This initiative not only aimed at enhancing the campus's green cover but also served as a hands-on educational experience for the students. They were educated on proper tree planting techniques and the long-term care required to ensure the healthy growth of the saplings. The activity highlighted the ecological benefits of trees, such as improving air quality, providing habitat for wildlife, and contributing to the overall well-being of the environment.

The move reinforces the college's commitment to environmental stewardship. The Eco Club plans to continue organizing similar activities, further promoting sustainability and ecological awareness within the college community.

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded the efforts of the Eco Club emphasising the importance of students' involvement in such activities to foster a sense of responsibility towards nature and motivated them to organize more such initiatives in the future.
