Eco-friendly Diwali Celebrations
The Panjab University Zoological Society (PUZS) organized eco-friendly Diwali Celebrations themed “Wildlife: Importance and Conservation” on 17th October in the Department of Zoology.
Chandigarh, October 18, 2022: The Panjab University Zoological Society (PUZS) organized eco-friendly Diwali Celebrations themed “Wildlife: Importance and Conservation” on 17th October in the Department of Zoology.
The function was organized to celebrate and cherish the festival of lights while being close to the nature. The students of the department participated in decorating the department followed by Rangoli Making competition among the students from various classes of the department. The subject of rangolis was wildlife where students let their imagination manifested through the colours of rangoli. The winners of the competition were selected on the basis of aesthetics, significance and relevance of the design of the Rangoli to the theme of the celebration. To maintain the fairness and anonymity and ecofriendly essence, the Jury members used the Google Sheet to register their remarks about each team design in the competition. Then teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the “Diya-Lighting” ceremony. This was followed by declaration of results of the competition along with prize distribution to the respective winners in august gathering of all the teaching, non-teaching staff, research scholars and students.
The event concluded by inviting everyone for refreshment. The wooden bird houses have also been arranged to be installed in the department of Zoology to mark eco-friendly Diwali.
