Sachiin Joshi led Viiking Ventures pledges a 50L support fund for under-privileged girl education
Mumbai: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Viiking Ventures - India's fastest growing conglomerate pledged their support towards girl child education by allocating a 50L support fund. The company aims to educate 50 girls who are 8 years and above belonging to families earning less than INR 50,000 a year.
Every child deserves the right to be educated and the economical state of the family shouldn't hamper one’s right to education. An African proverb says, “If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family – and a whole nation.” By sending a girl to school, she is far more likely to ensure that her children also receive an education. As many claim, investing in a girl’s education is investing in a nation.
The group strongly believes in this and this sponsorship is another stride towards fortifying the initiative. Spearheaded by the maverick Sachiin Joshi, Viiking Ventures and its non profit Big Brother Foundation have started working towards building this ground up.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Joshi said, “I think my beliefs stem from the innate attributes I have grown up with. My mother, my sisters, my wife and my daughters have always inspired me to go beyond and have pushed me to reach the best of me. As a family and a corporate, we are firm believers that every child deserves the opportunity to the right to education. Its unfortunate that 53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate. This sponsorship is to provide equal and quality educational opportunities to girl children in families which cannot afford it. I also firmly think that the practice of gender bias was not just inhuman, but also poses a threat to the development of the country as Women are leading their way in all fields and with the help of quality education, this can be an additional support for Women to grow further and explore their full potential.”
Viiking Ventures has been making some serious inroads toward its vision to be one of the most powerful business houses in India. With various business verticals such as FMCG products, hospitality, entertainment, realty, infrastructure, paper products and philanthropic activities, the group has been growing at a very fast pace. A young dynamic team of high calibre professionals with over 10 years of experience are the driving force behind the company’s growth and expansion.
