Education Department issues set of guidelines to streamline school academics in Punjab

Chandigarh, February 4, 2015: The Education Department of Punjab today issued directions to all the Circle Education Officers (CEOs), District Education Officers (DEOs) and School Heads to refrain from deputing any teacher on clerical work at DEO, DPI, DGSE, SCERT etc.
Disclosing this here today DPI (Secondary Education) Balbir Singh Dhol said that these set of guidelines were issued on the instructions of Education Minister Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema. 
Divulging further detail he said that after the periodic checking of the schools major loopholes in the working of school administration has come to the fore. He said that after getting the first hand information now schools have been directed not to relieve teachers for any other clerical work at any education offices. Similarly the school administration has been asked to grant casual leaves to the teachers reasonably considering the examination period.
Further schools have been directed to strictly follow the time table and timing of morning assembly and recess must not be changed at their own. Although most of the schools are having proper infrastructure like rooms and benches for the students but it has been found the teachers at their own will make the students outside in the adverse weather condition. He said that in this regard school management have been directed to restrict such practices of teachers.
He said that schools have also been prohibited not to disclose information regarding vacant post of teachers and employees in a particular school. He said that mostly teachers get this kind of information from that particular school where they wanted to be transferred. This kind of information can only be generated by the office of DEO.
He further said that teachers have also been restricted to leave the school marking on duty’ in the attendance register. He said that now in case of very urgent works shall have to take permission of his/her senior officer and will give with his consent the full details regarding the work or tour in the movement register. Schools have also been instructed to maintain registers regarding adjustment periods and such registers will maintain the record of another teacher being adjusted in place of teacher on leave.
