Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurates state level special games
1650 specially-abled athletes from 23 districts participate in various games
Ludhiana, December 8, 2022: Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday inaugurated two-day state-level games for specially-abled children in local Guru Nanak Stadium.
As many as 1650 specially-abled athletes from 23 districts are participating in games such as football, badminton, headball, volleyball etc.
Accompanied by MLA Daljit Singh Grewal, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, The Cabinet Minister said that he was fortunate to launch these state level games under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Bains said that the state government was making all possible efforts to promote sports across the state to channelize the boundless energy of these children in a positive direction. He said that the state government was committed for giving a major push to sports activity in the state and Kheda Watan Punjab Diyan was one of first step initiated by the Punjab government to make Punjab a frontrunner in sports.
The Minister further added that these games are a right step in this direction as these games will provide a suitable platform for the specially-abled students to showcase their hidden talents. He asserted that these games will also help the state government to identify the strength and weaknesses of the sportspersons which will prove beneficial in preparing them for future national and international sporting events.
