New Delhi/Jalandhar, August 7, 2013: Haryana Chief Minister  Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the number of MBBS seats in the State have risen to 800 now as compared to  only 350 in the year 2005 and  efforts are being made to increase the number of MBBS seats in Medical College, Agroha from 50 to 100.

Hooda was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the air conditioned Auditorium constructed in the memory of former Haryana Minister and noted industrialist Mr O.P. Jindal  at a cost of Rs. eight crore at Maharaja Aggarsen Medical College, Agroha in district Hisar today. A function was also organised to mark the 84th anniversary of late O.P. Jindal.

Hooda said that the present State Government had also increased the annual budget of this college to Rs. 172 crore which was only Rs. 23 crore in the year 2005.

The Chief Minister said that quality education and health care services were pivotal for the prosperity of any society or the State. Keeping this in view, the present State Government had set up a number of educational institutions and medical colleges in the State on priority basis. He said that in the coming few years, Haryana would established its unique identity as an education hub of international standard and  in the same series various prestigious institutions like Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Bhagat Phool Singh Women University, Defence University of National level were being set up in the State which shows the sensitivity of the State Government towards the areas of health and education.

While describing Jindal as a person of extraordinary thinking, Hooda said that there was no substitute of hard working. Success belongs to only those who were dedicated and work hard. He said that setting up of prestigious educational institute like Medical College in a backward area like Agroha was the indicative of the approach and extraordinary personality of Jindal. 

Recalling his old memories Hooda said that he got an opportunity to serve with late Jindal as MLA and Member of Parliament. He said that Jindal also served as Power Minister during his government in the year 2005.

Speaking on this occasion, Chairman of Maharaja Aggarsen Medical College Agroha and Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal said that his father late O.P Jindal had always worked for the development of this area and prosperity of the common man. He said that Jindal had considered education as base of development for the people and the setting up of this Medical College was its example. Jindal also thanked the Chief Minister for his assistance for the medical college and for the welfare of Aggarwal community.

Health Minister Rao Narender Singh said that late Jindal was a source of inspiration not only for Aggarwal Community but for the people of all sections of the society.

MLA Savitri Jindal, Director, Agroha Medical College Anurag Chabra, former member of Haryana Public Service Commission D.P Vats also spoke on the occasion.

Kulbir Beniwal and other prominent personalities were present on this occasion.
