Deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday reviewed the ongoing efforts made by administration and health teams to combat the spread of dengue and other vector borne diseases in the district.
Ludhiana, September 5, 2024: Deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday reviewed the ongoing efforts made by administration and health teams to combat the spread of dengue and other vector borne diseases in the district.
Chairing a meeting with the various departments, Sawhney stated that so far 54 dengue cases have been reported so far and teams were extensively working to control the spread of dengue. She mentioned that 632 challans have also been issued by civic body anr asked officials to leave no stone unturned to intensify steps against dengue vis-a-vis making people aware across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the public to take all necessary precautions against dengue. Teams are conducting fogging and going door-to-door to ensure safety. She highlighted the importance of educating the public about the places where mosquitoes breed, such as clear water in homes, flower pots, refrigerators, coolers, tires, and bird feeders, in addition to stagnant water.
Sawhney pointed out the need to inform the public about all potential mosquito breeding sites to effectively prevent future dengue outbreaks. She mentioned that the Municipal Corporation, along with the health, education, and other relevant departments, has formed collaborative teams to educate the public about these breeding areas in high-risk zones.
In rural regions, teams from the Panchayat, health department, and Block Developmental Programs are conducting awareness campaigns in every village to inform the rural population about the dangers of dengue and how to prevent it.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that it is everyone's duty to maintain clean and healthy environments.
