Electricity and GST Issues Raised in Drycleaners and Dyers Association’s Monthly Meeting, Sanjeev Arora Assures Solutions

Ludhiana, April 29, 2025: The Ludhiana Drycleaners and Dyers Association held its monthly meeting, presided over by Association President Chander Shekhar. The meeting was also attended by Punjab Drycleaners Association President Balwinder Singh Ahluwalia, General Secretary Rajeev Kanojia, and Raju Kanojia.

During the meeting, Ashwani Kanojia, Sandeep Verma, and Sandeep Sharma specially invited Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party candidate for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly constituency, Sanjeev Arora.

The association shared its key concerns with Sanjeev Arora. Members highlighted that earlier they were covered under the Small Power (SP) electricity scheme, but now they have been placed in the commercial category, leading to a significant rise in electricity expenses. Additionally, the 18% GST rate on drycleaning services is proving to be a major burden on the business. The association demanded that the GST slab be reduced to 5%.

Responding to these issues, Sanjeev Arora assured that the electricity issue would be raised with the Punjab government for reconsideration. Regarding the GST matter, he said it is not easy to reduce the rate as it is a central issue, but he would make every effort to bring it to the attention of the relevant committee.

At the end of the meeting, the association members pledged their support for Arora's victory from the Ludhiana (West) seat.

President Chander Shekhar expressed his gratitude to Sanjeev Arora for taking the time to listen to the association's concerns.
