Ferozepur, November 1, 2019: In a first of its kind initiative to encourage maximum plantation, the electricity bills in the Ferozepur circle will bear the `Green Appeal' from Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind.

To encourage people especially farmers for plantation around tube wells about 2.45 Lakh electricity bills will be stamped with a special appeal from DC Ferozepur.

Divulging more, Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind said that the move is aimed at stimulating plantation around one Lakh tube wells in the circle by motivating farmers to plant twenty trees around each tube well, which will help prevent the further depletion of groundwater and keep the environment pollution-free. Working towards environment protection will also be our real tribute to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who categorically emphasized on the preservation of our natural resources in his teachings, said the deputy commissioner.

The appeal reads: To keep the environment pollution free, keep the air fresh and pure and increase the groundwater level, I appeal you to plant 20 saplings such as Kiker, Neem, Amla, Tahli, and other ornamental flowers around each tubewell. This little effort of yours will not only become beneficial for the environment but also prove to be a boon for our coming generations and the people who follow this appeal will be given appreciation letters by me. Mr. Gaind said that there are around one lakh tubewell connections in the Ferozepur circle of Power Corporation thus if this appeal is followed by the people then we may end up with 20 Lakh trees around all tube wells.

He further added that there are around 2.45 Lakh power consumers in the circle who will receive the electricity bill with this appeal stamped upon their bills. The deputy commissioner said that it was the need of the hour to work for the environment especially our fastest depleting natural resources.

Notably, the deputy commissioner earlier too had taken a unique initiative to increase green cover in the Ferozepur by making it necessary to plant 10 saplings by the applicants of weapon license to be eligible to apply.
