Dr Kahlon currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist (Healthy Processed Foods Research) at USDA Agriculture Research Service in the United States, presented his groundbreaking findings on the low calorie, gluten free and speciality foods.

Ludhiana, December 10, 2024: The Department of Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), recently conducted an interactive session with Dr Talwinder Singh Kahlon, a distinguished fellow of the American Heart Association. Dr Kahlon currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist (Healthy Processed Foods Research) at USDA Agriculture Research Service in the United States, presented his groundbreaking findings on the low calorie, gluten free and speciality foods.

The session provided an invaluable opportunity to undergraduate and postgraduate students to engage in a dynamic discussion on human health, with a particular focus on therapeutic foods. Dr Kahlon discussed the most recent advances in the field, addressing current issues and proposing novel techniques in maintaining heart health.

A PAU alumnus, Dr Kahlon also highlighted his USDA research and advocated the incorporation of whole grains and super grains in the daily diet. He emphasized their high phytonutrient content and gluten-free nature, promoting their use in value-added products.

During the session, Dr Kahlon proposed practical strategies for effectively addressing and managing lifestyle diseases with healthy diets, offering attendees actionable knowledge.
