Empowering Rural Women: Groundnut-Based Product Training Initiative by ICAR-CIPHET
The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) conducted one day training programme on processing of groundnut for milk and paneer on February 13 for 38 women beneficiaries from five Self Help Groups (SHGs) across various villages in Jalandhar district. This initiative, conducted under the SCSP (Scheduled Caste Sub Plan) Scheme of the Government of India, was a collaborative effort of the team from ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana and Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar.
Ludhiana, February 15, 2024: The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) conducted one day training programme on processing of groundnut for milk and paneer on February 13 for 38 women beneficiaries from five Self Help Groups (SHGs) across various villages in Jalandhar district. This initiative, conducted under the SCSP (Scheduled Caste Sub Plan) Scheme of the Government of India, was a collaborative effort of the team from ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana and Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar.
The primary objective of the program was to enhance the income-generating capabilities of SC women by honing their skills in groundnut processing. Participants were equipped with knowledge spanning from the preparation of plant-based peanut milk to crafting flavoured beverages and paneer. Special emphasis was placed on extending the shelf life of milk through sterilization techniques.
The event was facilitated by course coordinators Dr. Khwairakpam Bembem and Dr. Vikas Kumar from ICAR-CIPHET and local coordinator Shri Prince Sachdeva from Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar. Dr. Kotwaliwale extended a warm welcome to all attendees, assuring them of CIPHET's support and technical guidance in the future. He also highlighted the incubation facilities available at CIPHET, encouraging participants to utilize these facilities in their endeavors. Shri Puneet Sharma (PCS), Municipal Corporation Jalandhar conveyed his warm wishes for the successful organization of the training.
Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director (CIPHET) and Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Head (Transfer of Technology Division) acknowledged the participants' achievements by distributing certificate, booklet of groundnut processing and a beneficiary item to all the participants at the conclusion of the programme.
