Held at the Meeting Hall, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana Zone A, the event spanned three sessions and was attended by over 400 dedicated sanitation workers, aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge in effective and sustainable waste management practices.

Ludhiana, July 3, 2024: The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, in collaboration with Clean Air Punjab, proudly announces the successful completion of a comprehensive workshop on Solid Waste Management (SWM). Held at the Meeting Hall, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana Zone A, the event spanned three sessions and was attended by over 400 dedicated sanitation workers, aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge in effective and sustainable waste management practices.

Additional Municipal Commissioner, Paramdeep Singh expressed deep appreciation for the participants, stating, "Our sanitation workers are the unsung heroes of our community. This workshop, organized with Clean Air Punjab, was designed to empower them with the knowledge and tools necessary for efficient and sustainable waste management. Seeing their commitment and eagerness to learn was truly heartening."

The workshop covered critical aspects of waste segregation, collection, transportation, and disposal, with a strong emphasis on health and safety practices, community engagement, and awareness. The sessions were designed to be interactive and informative, providing practical skills and knowledge that participants can apply in their daily work.

Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kanwar highlighted the collective responsibility of effective waste management, saying, "Effective waste management is crucial for the health of our environment and community. This workshop has reinforced the importance of best practices, and I am confident that the knowledge gained will significantly benefit both our sanitation workers and the public."

Hetal Jalad, Workshop Facilitator and Programme Manager at Saahas, underscored the importance of empowering sanitation staff, stating, "Building the capacity of sanitation staff on handling solid waste in a safe, hygienic, and sustainable way was our guiding principle throughout the workshop, ensuring that our frontline workers are well-equipped to maintain high standards in waste management."

Sanam, Head of State Climate Action, Asar emphasized the vital contribution of sanitation workers, stating, "Sanitation workers are indispensable in preserving community health. This workshop aimed to empower them with essential knowledge and skills in waste management, prioritizing their safety and effectiveness. Clean Air Punjab values our partnership with the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation in supporting these dedicated individuals and advancing our shared environmental goals."

The workshop also focused on developing participants' skills in monitoring and evaluating waste management activities, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to regulations. This initiative, a collaboration between the Municipal Corporation and Clean Air Punjab, is part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices within the community, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents.
