Enactus team of Panjab University join hands with Lions Club Chandigarh Central in World’s largest E-waste collection campaign

Chandigarh January 31, 2023: Enactus team of Panjab University, a student organization dedicated towards bringing about a change in the society through its continuous and meticulous efforts has been dedicatedly working since last 12 years to provide sustainable solution to social issues that afflict the world around us, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team.

Enactus team has joined hands with Lions Club Chandigarh Central in the World’s largest E-waste collection campaign titled ‘Dump and Donate’ which was launched Pan India on 13th January 2023 by Lions Club International in partnership with Hindustan E-Waste Management Pvt. Ltd. (HEW), Primus Partners and National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), told Sanya Prabhaker, content head of Enactus team. Under this programme, old devices are collected, recycled and a tree is planted in lieu of the donation, conveyed Prof. Kapoor. Enactus team along with Lion Satish Bhasker, President, Lions Club and Lion Sanjeev Gupta, E-waste Project Coordinator & District Chairperson Information Technology displayed posters at Student Center, Health Center, A.C. Joshi library and UIET, Panjab University to create awareness regarding e-waste and the process for donating e-waste, told Leeza Phogat, Finance Head of team Enactus. To promote this campaign, the event was led by Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Associate Dean of Student Welfare, Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer, Prof. J.K.Goswamy, Director, UIET, Dr. Vishal, UIET, Dr. Jivesh Bansal, Deputy Librarian & Dr. Suman Sumi, Assistant Librarian, A.C. Joshi Library and staff of DSW office, main library, health centre and UIET. 

Students of team Enactus  participated with enthusiasm, took initiative and acknowledged the hazardous effects of e-waste and educated people on how to discard it with minimal environmental impact, told Chetan Raikwar, Operations Head. Through this drive, the team reached out to the students, teaching and non-teaching staff and residents of Panjab University and raised awareness regarding e-waste and its detrimental effects on the environment, conveyed Samarth Minocha, Project Head. The drive made people aware about their duties towards nature. This initiative was highly appreciated by Prof. Jagtar and other higher authorities of Panjab University. As it is said, alone we can do so little, together we can do so much, the same was proved by Enactus team through team work, averred Tushar Goyal, PR Head. The high energy level of youngsters inspired every soul.
