Enactus Team of Panjab University organises “Nutrition and Health” workshop for potters of Maloya
Chandigarh, March 12, 2022: Nutrients are the building blocks of our body allowing us to grow, repair, protect against pathogens and create energy and they must be obtained from diet, since the human body does not synthesize them in large amounts enough for human health. Good health is like the morning sun, mellow and pleasing but the underprivileged communities often lack the knowledge about its paramount importance. At this time of pandemic when health care is a necessity, Enactus team conducted a workshop on Nutrition & Health at Maloya for potter community working under project “Dhra, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of the Enactus team.
Dr. Ekta Bajaj, dietitian, Panjab University delivered an expert talk on the importance of eating a balanced and nutrient-rich diet to more than 100 community members present during the workshop. Dr. Bajaj raised awareness on the dynamic interdependency of health and nutrition at various stages of life and emphasized the management of nutritional disorders. She engaged the workshop in a very simple and organized way. Dr. Bajaj told the importance of few affordable and low-cost food items viz. vegetables like loci, carrots, leafy greens including spinach, fenugreek; fruits like bananas, grapes; whole grains; lentils, soyabeen, etc. to the potter community.
The potter community appreciated the efforts put in by Enactus team from time to time since last 2 years and helping in their upliftment by bagging orders from many food outlets of tricity for earthen products like handis, cups, glasses, plates, etc. They conveyed that they are very thankful to the team for helping them even during COVID-19 pandemic by distributing face masks, face shields and also bagging regular orders from the food joints.
Akshit Kalra, President of ENACTUS team along with Meesha and Sonali, Vice Presidents, Project Head Amanpreet, Chetan and Nandini, Finance Head, Yash Tripathi and Content Head, Dea gave prominence to the essentiality of instructing people about the paramount significance of health. Prof. Kapoor conveyed that Enactus team is very grateful to Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University for providing all the support for such events.
