Enactus team of PU celebrates Independence Day with specially-abled with enthusiasm and patriotism
Enactus team of Panjab University celebrated the 76th year of India’s Independence with the specially-abled children of Samarth Jiyo, a residential care for special children in Sector 15, Chandigarh by organizing a workshop on "Colors of Unity: Hand in Hand for Independence", conveyed Prof.Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team. She said that the workshop was a blend of creativity and patriotism.
Chandigarh, August 14, 2023: Enactus team of Panjab University celebrated the 76th year of India’s Independence with the specially-abled children of Samarth Jiyo, a residential care for special children in Sector 15, Chandigarh by organizing a workshop on "Colors of Unity: Hand in Hand for Independence", conveyed Prof.Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor of Enactus team. She said that the workshop was a blend of creativity and patriotism.
The resource persons for the workshop were Puneet Madan, Coordinator, Social Substance and Dr.Arun Bansal, Sr. Programmer, Panjab University. Dr. Bansal interacted with the specially-abled and appreciated team Enactus for hosting this meaningful celebration to deepen the connection with our nation's history and values, igniting the patriotic spirit within each attendee.
Madan, 'Legendary person in multitasking' and most versatile artist of the Nation is a World Record Holder in Coffee Painting. She gave hands-on training of making Flags on hand made Chart Paper with tube water colours, atta, rice and salt. This artistic endeavour aimed to unite attendees in expressing their love for the country through painting, celebrating India's diversity and unity, said Shubham Dhiman, President of Enactus team. The specially-abled children thoroughly enjoyed with colours and started hugging Madan after the event. Her work was highly appreciated by all present. The Enactus volunteers and staff of Samarth also enjoyed the painting activity and were touched by seeing happiness on the faces of the specially-abled children. Aarzoo Dhiman, Vice-president, Enactus team said that coming to Samarth and spending time with these special children is always a blessing.
Tricolor badges were distributed to all present. Light refreshments liked by specially abled were also served at the end of the event. The Enactus team played patriotic songs and few dance numbers to enhance the festive spirit. It was immensely heart-warming to see these Godly souls dance and jump to the rhythm of songs, said Aditi Prakash, Vice-President.
Puja, General Secretary of Samarth, appreciated the efforts made by the Enactus members towards these children and their dedication to treating specially abled at Samarth no less than their Enactus family for the past one decade. She said the feeling of happiness can be seen on the faces of special children on seeing the Enactus members.
This collaborative effort by Enactus and Social Substance amplified the sense of togetherness that Independence Day represents, averred Kiran, another Vice-President of Enactus team.
Shubham expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Enactus team to Prof. Jatinder Grover, Dean Student Welfare, PU, Prof.Simrit Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare (Women) and other higher authorities of PU for their constant and invaluable support to the team for carrying out such social outreach activities.
