The English Literary Society of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar marked International Women’s Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and a vibrant celebration.

Jalandhar, March 8, 2025: The English Literary Society of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar marked International Women’s Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and a vibrant celebration.
The event began with an energetic dance performance on a medley of Hindi songs, celebrating the indomitable spirit of women and inspiring them to embrace life fully while pursuing their dreams with unwavering determination.
A highlight of the programme was a unique skit that reimagined the timeless classic Cinderella—but with a Punjabi twist! In this refreshing take, glass slippers were swapped for vibrant juttis, and midnight struck to the beat of a dhol! Unlike the traditional tale, this modern-day Cinderella Kaur chose to stay back and follow her passion for becoming a fashion vlogger, proving that a happily ever after begins with chasing one’s own dreams. Adding an interactive element to the event, a fun and engaging quiz was conducted with a thought-provoking twist. The questions, designed specifically for either boys or girls, challenged common gender stereotypes about interests, skills, and knowledge, encouraging a broader and more inclusive perspective.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Suman Chopra commended the participants for their creativity and efforts. Dr. Balraj Kaur, HoD English, said that women are the backbone of society and emphasised upon the work required for the upliftment of women.
Dr. Geetanjali Mahajan, President of the English Literary Society, emphasized that the programme was designed to encourage girls to pursue financial independence while inspiring both boys and girls to work together for a more just and equal society.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Navdeep Kaur, HOD Economics, Prof. Gagandeep Kaur, HOD, Botany and other members of the staff including Prof. Hariom Verma, Prof. Sandeep Ahuja, Prof. Manmeet Sodhi, Prof. Manju Joshi, and Prof. Satpal Singh.
The celebration was a resounding success, reinforcing the message of empowerment, equality, and self-determination for all.
