Ensure 4500 RT-PCR tests in daily to halt resurgence of Covid: DC Varinder Kumar Sharma

Ludhiana:  In order to halt the resurgence of the Covid-19 cases by ensuring effective testing, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma directed the officials to conduct 4500 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) tests daily in Ludhiana and ensure aggressive contact tracing by re-structuring the teams.

Presiding over virtual meeting with Police, Civil and health officials, Deputy Commissioner said the Ludhiana has been again witnessing a slight increase in positive cases for past few days and it is time to ensure effective testing of the people through RT-PCR.

He clearly asked the health department to test 4500 RT-PCR tests in the district only which will help to identify the accurate potential Covid cases and break the transmission chain of the virus.

He said that the sampling must be done on war footage so that spread of pandemic could be checked at the earliest in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that district administration was fully equipped with resources and manpower to combat Covid-19 and no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause adding that war against CoronaVirus would be won with the support of people, who could contribute their share by confining them to home.

He also asked the officials to reactivate control room and home isolation cell for better Covid management here.
During the meet, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said that Ludhiana Police Commissionerate have already started issuing challans against those who are not wearing masks and from March 1, restrictions of gathering would be strictly enforced.

He also said that the police have also been distributing masks among the people.

SSP Ludhiana (Rural) Charanjit Singh Sohal, SSP Khanna Gursharandeep Singh Grewal and ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar ADC (G) Amarjit Bains and others also attended the virtual meeting.
