Ensure necessary arrangements for crop protection from inclement weather

Ludhiana, April 19, 2024: With the inclement weather has hit the district , Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Friday asked all the procurement agencies to take necessary steps to ensure that not even a single procured grain is damaged.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the erratic weather conditions prevailing in the district. She said that the procurement of grains was going in a smooth and hassle-free manner but utmost care must be taken to save golden grains.
Sawhney said that concerted efforts must also be made to store the procured grains at a safe place in the markets so that no damage is caused to it. She said that it was the bounden duty of all the officers to preserve the food grains. She said that the officers must visit the mandis and ensure that elaborate arrangements were put in place to protect the grains from the wrath of the bad weather.
Meanwhile, she said that during the ongoing Rabi season, more than 8.11 lakh metric ton wheat was expected to arrive in the district and till today, the district has already witnessed arrival of 21504.45 MT wheat crop of which around 16000 MT had been procured.
