Pandemic is not over, third wave can onset anytime so people must be cautious
Ludhiana, August 25, 2021: In the wake of the upcoming festive season which is just around the corner and witnesses a large gathering of the people, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday urged the people to strictly observe physical distancing, masking and hand hygiene besides getting the life-saving jab
without fail to prevent the third wave of the pandemic.
Speaking to the residents of Ludhiana during his weekly Facebook Live session on DPRO Ludhiana official page, the Deputy Commissioner said that two-yard physical distancing, masks, hand hygiene and vaccination are weapons to curtail the spread of contagion.
He said the festive season is set to start with Janmaashtami on August 30, Ganesh Chatruthi on September 10 and later
Navratri which are being celebrated with utmost devotion and full religious zeal by people so the people must take appropriate steps to ensure a physical distance of a minimum of six feet and masking at all the times.
He said that administration would also keep a close eye on all Covid guidelines including physical distancing, masking and washing hands frequently or use of contact-less hand sanitizers during these events.
He called upon people to not to be complacent that pandemic was over as we can witness the third wave of the virus spread in coming months, hence appropriate Covid behaviour was a key to prevent the further spread of the virus.
He told that on Wednesday, Ludhiana has reported single case of Covid out of 9168 tests conducted by health department.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the around 19.35 lakh citizens of the Ludhiana have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
