Environmental Day organised at Ferozepur Cantt

Jalandhar, September 1, 2012: An Environmental Day was organised at Ferozepur under the aegis of the Golden Arrow Division on August 31.

The event was aimed at spreading awareness on ecological issues, cl,imate change and wild life conservation.

Around 300 students from the local schools conducted a
Green Walk to spread the message of a Green Earth.

A tree plantation drive was undertaken which was kick started by General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division and a total 3,000 saplings were  planted in the Ferozepur Cantt.  

During the event a lecture was delivered by Dr Avtar Singh, HOD, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana on environmental
issue and a play was also organised by school children of Army Public School, Ferozepur to spread awareness and suggest steps towards a Greener Earth.
The General Officer with his motto “Green Cantonment”has taken up several such drives including Anti Polythene drive which has now manifested into a cleaner Cantonment rid of polythenes.  This environmental drive was an initiation with a two fold   aim of spreading awareness amongst the young minds and ensuring a green cover by the plantation drive in the Ferozepur Cantonment.
