Europe-like road infrastructure in Ludhiana soon-MP Sanjeev Arora
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on Saturday announced that Europe-like road infrastructure would be developed in Ludhiana city soon.

Ludhiana, March 15, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on Saturday announced that Europe-like road infrastructure would be developed in Ludhiana city soon.
Addressing a press conference in the circuit house, Arora accompanied by MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Madan Lal Bagga, District AAP Urban President Sharanpal Singh Makkar, stated that around 12.4 kilometres roads in Ludhiana will be transformed on the lines of those in European countries.
The roads such as Old GT Road (Sherpur chowk to Jagraon Bridge) – 6.5 km, Chaura Bazaar (Starting from clock tower)– 1.75 km, and Ghumar Mandi road (from Fountain chowk to Aarti Cinema) – 4.2 km would be transformed into meticulously designed urban spaces.
Arora mentioned that based on the outcomes and public feedback, these roads will undergo comprehensive redesign to address traffic bottlenecks, ensure uniform road width, and enhance drainage systems to prevent recurring damage and beautiful landscapping on the centre verges. The services such as streetlights, benches, cycle track, bus stops, pedestrian walkway, and others will also be ensured. He added that the agencies developing the roads will ensure their upkeep for the next ten years, promoting accountability and long-term quality.
Arora further disclosed that under the first phase, focus will be on designing, engaging acclaimed urban planners and international experts to draft detailed layouts over a four-month period. In the next phase, construction agencies will build the infrastructure in eight-month and they will also ensure 10-year maintenance along with regular mechanized cleaning using advanced equipment.
The MP also emphasized that this initiative of Aam Admi Party (AAP) led Punjab Government will set a precedent for urban development in India, transforming not just the physical landscapes of cities but also the way citizens experience urban life. With its focus on excellence, innovation, and sustainability, this project is poised to bring a much-needed overhaul to Punjab’s urban infrastructure, elevating it to world-class standards, he added.
