Excise dept, FST destroys 10000 litres of Lahan and 38 bottles of illicit liquor in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, May 26, 2024:Cracking whip on illicit liquor during the general elections, Excise department and Flying Squad Team (FST) destroyed 10000 litres of Lahan and 38 bottles of illicit liquor during after conducting raids in different parts of the district on Sunday.
The raids are being conducted on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney and AETC Inderjit Singh Nagpal.
In the first case, excise department officials along with FST conducted a raid in village Chuharwal (Sahnewal assmebly segment) following a tip off.
Led by EO Ludhiana-east Preet Bhupinder Singh, the team found 2 non-working still drums, 4 tarpals, 1 plastic drum, 2 jerry cans. Around 10000 litres of Lahan, being unclaimed, was destroyed on the spot and an FIR in this regard is being filed at police station Meharban.
In the second case, excise department team led by EI Harshpinder Singh conducted a search operation at Village Umra and found 38 bottles of illicit liquor stored underground at a vacant land near Village Kot Umra. The unclaimed illicit liquor was destroyed on the spot.
Meanwhile, DEO Sakshi Sawhney directed the enforcement agencies to work with utmost dedication to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the district.
