Ludhiana, October 2, 2024: In a move to enhance tax compliance and ensure transparency, the Ludhiana Division of Excise & Taxation Department led by Deputy Commissioner Randhir Kaur has initiated a rigorous inspection of invoices issued by businesses to consumers (B2C) across various sectors in lieu of the coming festive season.
The department is focusing on verifying whether businesses are adhering to the regulatory guidelines concerning invoicing, tax collection, and reporting.
These checks are part of an ongoing effort to prevent tax evasion and to ensure that the correct amount of taxes are being collected and remitted to the government. The checking drive includes the review of invoices to verify the inclusion of necessary details such as the GSTIN, correct tax rates, and accurate customer billing information. Businesses found in violation of these rules, such as failure to issue proper invoices, under- reporting sales, or incorrect tax calculation, may face penalties under the relevant tax regulations, as the sensitisation drive continues.
The department encourages all businesses to maintain proper documentation and records of their transactions to avoid any discrepancies during the checks.
