Ludhiana, September 11, 2024: MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Ludhiana, Ministry of MSME is organising 3 days Exhibition -cum- Trade Fair for the artisans and craftspeople of Punjab on 12-14 September, 2024 in Punjab trade Centre, Ludhiana.

The Exhibition will include stalls of about 60-70 artisans who work with their hands using tools.

The Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on September 17, 2023. The scheme has been designed to provide extensive support to artisans engaged in 18 traditional trades, fostering their skill development, financial stability and market accessibility.
 
It encompasses 18 traditional trades, specifically Carpenter (Suthar/Badhai), Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith (Lohar), Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith, Potter (Kumhaar), Sculptor (Moortikar, Stone Carver), Stone Breaker, Cobbler, Mason (Rajmistri), Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver, Doll & Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber, Garland Maker (Malakaar), Washerman (Dhobi), Tailor, Fishing  Net Maker.
 
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries are provided with Recognition as Vishwakarma through Issuance of the PM Vishwakarma Certificate & ID Card; Basic Skill training of 6 days and Advanced Training of 15 days with Training stipend of Rs.500 per day and Transport Allowance of Rs.1000; Provision of                       Rs. 15,000 through e-vouchers for toolkit, Collateral- Free Enterprise Development Loans of upto Rs. 3 lakh at the interest of 5% incentive for digital transactions of Re.1 Per transaction for a maximum of 100 transactions per month and marketing support.
 
One of the important component of PM Vishwakarma scheme is providing marketing support to the artisans through which it will enable them to create linkage to domestic value chain and increase the sales of their products.
 
Exhibition -cum-Trade Fairs plays a important role in marketing the product as it creates a platform to showcase their unique products to the customers and increasing their customer base.
 
The Exhibition is expected to have footfall of about 15000 + participants. During the exhibition, registration of the artisans, who are yet to entrol under the scheme will also be conducted, alongwith registering them on GeM portal and UAP portal. There would also be an awareness programme on benefits of PM Vishwakarma scheme and the process of availing these benefits.
